These AUDIO RECORDINGS (not video, please!) can are done in class with the band, or if you’re absent, you can do them at home playing along with the demo recording (playing loud enough over a separate set of speakers so I can hear you AND the recording) or a metronome.

If you don’t have a device to use in rehearsal, please just let Mr. Follett know and we’ll sort out an alternate way of testing the music.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Open the Voice Memo app (iOS) or Voice Recorder app (Android – depending on the phone, app may have a different name)
  2. When instructed, hit the RECORD button and quickly place your phone on your stand next to your music. Bass & guitar players, place it on the floor next to your amp.
  3. Play the assigned scale, section or piece.
  4. When instructed, hit the STOP button.
  5. Tap the SHARE button – Usually a box with an arrow going out, or 3 dots in a triangle linked with two lines. If you don’t see a share option, check the menu options (3 dots or 3 bars).
  6. Select EMAIL as your share option.
  7. Where the email has space for the “SUBJECT” format the assignment as instructed in class so your assignment can be found:
    • BAND(short form)-DATE(yymmdd)-ASSIGNMENT(nospaces)
    • EXAMPLE – For Concert Band 8 on October 1, 2023, Playing “As Winds Dance” the subject would be cb08-231001-aswindsdance
  8. Send the email to Mr. Follett at his email address (on your instrument tag and on the website)
